What We Do

BicycleArea ranks and compares bicycles and cycling gear across every major riding style, including mountain, road, electric, cruiser, folding, hybrid, and kids' bikes, plus tricycles. We pull frame material, wheel size, gearing, suspension type, brake style, weight, and price from manufacturer specifications, then cross-check them against verified owner demand and rating data. The goal is one practical, data-driven resource that helps you match the right bike to your budget and riding needs without wading through vague marketing copy.

Our Team

Theo Marsh leads our mountain and e-bike coverage. He focuses on how frame material, suspension travel, drivetrain, motor output, and weight stack up against the asking price, drawing on manufacturer geometry data and verified buyer feedback. Lena Ortiz writes our buying guides for road, commuter, cruiser, and kids' bikes, turning frame sizing, gearing range, and owner ratings into straightforward purchase advice. The BicycleArea Research Team supports both editors by building and maintaining our category rankings from specification databases and real sales demand data.

How Our Rankings Work

Every bike we rank clears four gates before it appears on this site: it must be a genuine product sold by a verified brand, have documented buyer demand based on real purchase and review volume, carry a rating of 3.8 stars or higher from a meaningful number of reviewers, and come from a brand with a traceable commercial history. Bikes that pass all four gates are ranked within their category by a combination of specification quality, price-to-feature ratio, and aggregate buyer satisfaction. We update category data on a rolling basis as new models enter the market.

Contact and Corrections

If you spot a spec error, a price that is out of date, or a product that no longer meets our quality gates, please reach out at hello@bicyclearea.com. We treat correction requests seriously and will update or remove any listing that no longer passes our four-gate standard. We do not accept payment to add, promote, or remove specific products from our rankings.
